Crockpots Aren’t for Working Girls

Getting home just in time to begin fixing dinner is no easy daily task. After a full day of work, I rarely have any desire to cook dinner or clean up afterwards. Somewhere down the road, someone was feeling the same pain as me…and she created the slow cooker. Pinterest is full of slow cooker recipes. On Sunday mornings, I try to plan dinners for the week ahead. This Sunday, I found myself planning all Crockpot dinners…from Pinterest. Monday morning I got up a few minutes early, not without a few extra whines though. I put all of the ingredients into the slow cooker and set it for 6.5 hours on low. In my mind, it would have time to cook and then warm all afternoon. We’d come home to Crack Chicken, the recipe you all have probably seen floating around social media….FALSE. I got home a little before 6:00 and could smell something wasn’t right. I unlocked the lid to my slow cooker and knew my plans were foiled. I’ll post the picture, but you may not want to look…consider this your warning.

My trusty slow cooker. Ignore the ugly background…I didn’t “stage” the kitchen.
I’ll really post it this time… BEWARE!

Dinner is Served!
Gross!

I’d had the feeling for awhile, but this failed recipe confirmed it. Crockpots are not for working girls! From what I have observed, most crockpot recipes are for 4-6 hours. Does this work for anyone? Doubt it!

Luckily, I’m blessed with a husband who never complains about dinner. He fixed tacos to make up for my struggles.

This brings me to my final thoughts…What are some easy week night dinners for those days you just don’t feel like cooking? With Daniel’s help, I’ll post some of our favorites. Let me know a few of yours!
